This month, we’re unveiling item upsells for catering orders, a complete look at a diner’s booking history, and more advanced Reservations reporting.
Get yourself set up for success in the new year by utilizing these three product updates. First, enable item upsells to drive even more catering sales — especially for the Big Game in February.
Then, explore Booking History for better customer segmentation and marketing. Lastly, check out more detailed reporting for Reservations and Digital Waitlist customers.
1. Pre-Order & Catering — Item Upsell
Restaurants using Pre-Order & Catering can now include item upsells on orders. (This was previously only available for Online Ordering).
The new feature enables restaurants to capture additional revenue at checkout by highlighting specific menu items or displaying “best sellers.” Best sellers are automatically configured based on sales data while Custom Items must be manually selected. You can toggle off/on at the menu level through your dashboard.

2. Booking History
Reservations and Digital Waitlist customers using Bento Book can now see a more detailed view of dining activity, including on-premise dining activity and diner details, all in one place. This improves the accessibility of information and creates a central source of truth.
Booking History connects to diner profiles, allowing an in-depth profile of your diner’s journey. You can now see the following data.
Booking information includes:
Diner name
Party size
Visit type
Table status
Date & time
Live table status updates includes:
Seated
Not seated
Canceled/No Shows
Booking details includes:
Email address
Phone number
Table assignment
Visit tags
Visit notes
Notes from guests
With this comprehensive information that’s consolidated into one view, you can leverage diner metrics to build better segmentation for your marketing efforts.
3. Detailed Reporting for Bento Book
Daily reporting is now accessible through the Bento Book app for Reservations and Digital Waitlist customers, allowing you to view and print daily reports for pre, mid, and post-shifts. This new feature enables you to observe trends, adjust staffing needs, and manage your restaurant more efficiently.
The reporting feature will populate based on the time of day, enabling you to view a list of your total parties for the day, including VIP guests, as well as the spread of covers for a pre-shift overview. The post-shift report will provide analytics on your wait time (actual vs. quoted) and average turn times.
