August 2023: What’s New at BentoBox?
August 28, 2023
Find improvements to Reservations, new diner sign up overlays, the ability to undo orders, and more.
Another month down, another exciting line-up of features and enhancements from BentoBox’s Product team. As we continue to build, the goal stays the same — to give restaurants like yours more ways to connect with and serve their diners.
1. Guest feedback in Reservations.
Operators will now be notified when diners leave feedback about their in-person and online experiences with a restaurant. When a diner leaves a positive review, they’ll receive an automated SMS text encouraging them to share their reviews on platforms like Google, Yelp, and Facebook.
Any negative feedback from past guests will surface in Bento Book upon the guest’s next visit to help operators with service recovery.

2. Diner profile sync in Reservations.
We’ve expanded diner profiles to include diner reservation history to provide a closer look at any given diner’s past behaviors and preferences. Restaurants can use this information to create more personalized experiences and stronger marketing campaigns.

3. Diner sign up.
Many restaurants miss the opportunity to capture site visitors’ contact information at the top of the funnel and incentivize them to return. Through diner sign up overlays, you can now collect diner information through popup templates that focus on first-time offers for new diners and more. Additionally, you can send incentive emails after diners sign up to drive orders and promote re-engagement.

4. Undo orders.
Previously, orders were unable to be changed or edited once they were placed. This led to friction for both diners and restaurant workers. Now, with Undo Orders, diners have the ability to make adjustments to their order within the checkout experience before the order is confirmed by the restaurant.
5. Clover dining integration with Reservations.
Payments made through Clover POS now sync with BentoBox Reservations for real-time table status updates. This helps restaurants drive more revenue, save time, and turn tables faster.

6. Catering fee application.
Ahead of the holiday season, our 3% catering fee can now be absorbed by the restaurant or the guest. Previously, the 3% fee was only able to be passed onto the guest, but with the catering fee application, restaurants can now choose to absorb the fee if they would prefer. We are in the process of rolling this out to all customers.

7. Bento Book settings.
To help the host stand work faster and more efficiently, we’ve reorganized Bento Book settings into categories and added a search functionality to make it easier than ever to find what you’re looking for.
