It’s not every day that a burrito makes waves in the New York City dining scene. But ever since Ursula opened in fall 2020, the café & bakery has brought flocks of people out to Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn for a taste of New Mexico-inspired cuisine — especially their famous chorizo and egg breakfast burrito.

“It’s been a goal of mine to educate people about what New Mexican food looks like,” says Chef & Owner Eric See, who hails from Albuquerque. “New Mexico has a completely specific, unique cuisine that you can’t really find anywhere else.”

Nearly as soon as it opened, Ursula was showered in accolades. In 2022, Ursula was named a finalist for the James Beard Foundation’s Best New Restaurant award; the New York Times called it one of “New York’s great breakfast destinations.” Meanwhile, Chef See has been heralded by organizations like StarChefs and Bon Appétit for his activism — a large part of which has been making Ursula a proudly inclusive space for the LGBT+ community. “Ursula is the intersection of my identity: my New Mexican heritage and being a queer person in New York,” Chef See says.

Behind the scenes, BentoBox and Clover operate as Ursula’s digital backbone. Clover’s sleek POS terminals and convenient QR-code ordering integrate orders from the dining room and from BentoBox’s Online Ordering store into one seamless system behind the counter. Their BentoBox website colorfully showcases Ursula’s unique branding, and lets Chef See easily edit pages and pop-up notifications for the restaurant’s many special events.

“I’m really happy being able to go in and change things easily on the website,” See says. “The Clover terminals look great on my counter, and I love having everything in one place.

With a community presence that includes events like off-site pop-ups, film nights, and Chef See’s annual chile roast, Ursula is a restaurant with a far-reaching brand — and with Clover and BentoBox, the marketing and commerce platform to make it stand out.
